Post Hoc

My finance professor had the most wonderful post hoc argument today.

"Your test scores matched pretty well with your quiz scores, so obviously the quizzes work to prepare you for the test."

The fact that people do equally well on poorly written quizzes and poorly written tests as they always do doesn't mean that taking the quizzes help people do better, they just do better. Period.
